General Air Traffic (GAT)

The definitions provided below are European ones which are not recognised or necessarily understood in other parts of the world

General air traffic (GAT) encompasses all flights conducted in accordance with the rules and procedures of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). These may include military flights for which ICAO rules satisfy their operational requirements. (EUROCONTROL EATM Glossary of Terms)

Military traffic which does not comply with ICAO rules and procedures is termed Operational Air Traffic (OAT) (OAT).
