I think it would be helpful to note in this entry that aircraft comms equipment failure in service is an extremely rare event with the possible exception of stuck transmitter switches. Proven cases of 'sleeping receiver' were never common but seem now to be quite rare, as do instances of the other fault category mentioned, direct equipment malfunction. Unfortunately, many cases of inadvertent mis-use of equipment have in the past been incorrectly been attributed to technical malfunction because of a failure to establish and analyse all the relevant data and this continues.--Chris.stewart 12:34, 8 February 2008 (CET)
