Background

This safety enhancement outlines research and development (R&D) topics needed to reduce turbulence injuries to flight attendants and passengers through improved situational awareness, turbulence encounter management procedures (before, during and after encounter), enhanced communication and identification of effective cabin design safety features.

SE079 calls for Human Factors research to determine best practices for improving passenger seat belt use.


This safety enhancement is not currently on the CAST Plan, but might be included in the future. In that event, the attached Implementation Plan would be revised prior to inclusion.
