It seems worth adding to this excellent summary of the FUA concept that whilst its acceptance seems to have begun in Europe, it appears to me that there is considerably further to go than has already been achieved. Personally, I think that, whilst this concept can indeed safely free-up some airspace presently denied to civil traffic when it would be useful, it is neither necessary nor likely that all sole-use military training airspace should/will be given up. However, the FUA 'debate' will continue to invite the military planners to think very hard about where they really do need dedicated airspace and to accept it where the actual impact on civil traffic capacity is even less than it is at the moment.--Chris.stewart 13:41, 29 January 2008 (CET)
