Definition
An item whose failure or malfunction could have one or more of the following effects or characteristics:
- affect safety on the ground or in flight
- be undetectable during operations
- have significant operational economic impact
- have significant non-operational economic impact.
It is sometimes referred to as a Maintenance Significant Item (MSI)
