HindSight

HindSight is a magazine produced by the Safety Improvement Sub-Group (SISG) of EUROCONTROL. It is produced for Air Traffic Controllers and is issued by the Agency twice a year. Its main function is to help operational air traffic controllers to share in the experiences of other controllers who have been involved in ATM-related safety occurrences.

In this way, they will have an opportunity to broaden their experience of the problems that may be encountered; to consider the available solutions; and therefore be better prepared should they meet similar occurrences themselves. Around 5000 copies of each issue are circulated globally to air traffic controllers, aircraft operators, airlines, user associations, heads of ACCs, and working groups.

Many articles first published in HindSight are referenced from within SKYbrary. In 2009, Tzvetomir Blajev, Managing Editor, accepted the Flight Safety Foundation Cecil Brownlow Publication Award on behalf of HindSight magazine.

HindSight 9 The ninth edition, titled "Are You responsible for safety?", was published in June 2009.

HindSight 7 The seventh edition, titled "Weather", was published in June 2008.

HindSight 6 The sixth edition, titled "Collision Avoidance", was published in January 2008.

HindSight 5 The fifth edition, titled "Workload", was published in June 2007.

HindSight 4 The fourth edition, titled "Conflict Detection", was published in January 2007.

HindSight 3 The third edition, titled "Airspace Infringement", was published in June 2006.

HindSight 2 The second edition, titled "Communication", was published in January 2006.

HindSight 1 The first edition, titled "Hindsight is a Wonderful Thing", was published in January 2005.
